Follow me on my journey to learning the art of self love as I discover what it’s like to be loving, kind, and patient with myself.
I am 27 year old administrative assistant by day and writer by night. In the last few years, I’ve been thrown into a whirlpool of life events, including almost losing my sanity from suffering from a severe anxiety disorder, losing almost everything financially and pretty much being homeless for a period of time, and then finally ending a very long term (8 years!) relationship I thought I would never end.
It’s been quite a ride, my friends, and I thought, hey why not share my experiences with others who might need it, who want to know that they are not alone and that there really is hope when all feels lost , These personal growth lessons and techniques I’ve learned along the way have truly impacted my life. And let me tell you – I am still learning (so don’t think you ever stop)!
I am a firm believer in the idea that we are all made for something in particular. A purpose of some sort you could call it. How did I know that writing was my purpose? Because I feel alive when I am able to do it. I know I was made to be an encourager and through my writing I can do just that. It gives me so much energy and happiness when I am able to express myself through my craft and it makes me even more thrilled when I am able to actually help other people while doing it. DOUBLE WIN!
So my ultimate goal with The Self Love Challenge is to create a space of love where others can relate in a “me too” kind of atmosphere – or in other words, a place where we can all share the bond of simply being human, however, imperfect that may be. I believe that love truly is the answer, and if we can discover how to live in a loving environment (rather than a fear-driven society!) through learning more self-awareness and challenging ourselves to grow, life will become a lot more joyful and a lot less complicated! And maybe just maybe, if all goes well, we can eventually share that overflow of newfound love inside of us to other people – creating a far kinder world than we live in now.
Lastly, my little words of wisdom: Keep pursuing your art. Stay creative. Follow your passion – you know the thing that you HAVE to make or HAVE to do. And above all else, do everything in love (1 Corinthians 16:14).
Hope you enjoy following my journey!
